2022 – 11 zooming in and out
2 min readJun 29, 2022
Week 2 in my new job and it’s a short week as I’m off on holiday with my family on a long planned and long awaited opportunity to spend time together.
5 things that happened this week (nb many things happened)
- I listened into a discussion amongst clinical practitioners about how to design new pathways and protocols and then test them (safely). It was a really useful insight into approaches/skills/systems, and helped me further flesh out my mental map of health and social care.
- I read and listened to a lot again – zooming in and out from background material from overarching government policies that set the agenda to the fantastic content produced by my PD colleagues.
- I had a great conversation with Chris about my goals for my first 3 months — was great to do this before my holiday as it was a useful way to wrap up some of my emerging thoughts into some coherent outcomes (as well as fleshing out the how).
- Spent the day in the office which meant I got to meet lots of people in person for the first time and had time for coffee with Amanda where she generously shared loads of good content and advice, and also asked super curious questions of me, which helped me think through the content of my first show and share later in July.
- And I had a chance to get involved in pulling together a presentation for a future piece of work that we’ve been shortlisted for — a really good way to learn by doing and listening to people working out loud.
What did I read/listen to this week?
I’ve been listening to the Slow Burn podcast on Roe vs Wade. It’s not making me any less angry but it is giving me more background and insight into how we got here.
I’ve also been listening to Lauren Currie’s UPFRONT moments — this one about facing into fear with support around you is partic. brilliant:
